What is 'Restorative Dentistry'?
![]() Restorative Dentistry refers to procedures for the replacement of damaged, decayed or missing teeth using veneers, crowns, and bridges with bonded, composite resins ("white fillings") that blend beautifully with the natural color of your teeth! After Dr. Foley has examined your teeth and has evaluated your dental and medical history, she will be able to provide you with a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment options. A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to its original shape and function, while a bridge is generally utilized to replace one or more missing teeth. These restorations are cemented or bonded onto the teeth and are referred to as "fixed" dentistry, unlike dentures, which are a removable dental appliance. Veneers (also known as Bonding, onlays or by the brand-name Durathin) are thin, porcelain or resin laminates that are bonded to the surface of your existing teeth in order to correct gaps, chips, crooked teeth or discoloring. White Fillings, also called composite resin fillings, employ high-tech dental materials that look like a natural tooth, help strengthen and seal the adjoining "real" tooth, and do not have the health issues associated with traditional amalgam fillings (i.e., mercury toxicity). Dental Implants -- the replacement of missing teeth with realistic, yet synthetic replacements. Aesthetically superior Dentures, which can now be created to more closely replicate the natural look of your original teeth! Other Orthodontic options which can help reverse years of decay and neglect and help you get the smile you've always wanted!
